Not sure if you noticed, but the stuff that wasn't in the chorus was aimed at a female, (Hence the "him" being said over and over) and then the bits in the chorus, not a fan of American Football, owning a car doesn't have as much wow factor in England than it does in America.

Ah now, having a car is a plus, but it's true, it has less of an effect over here.

Also being captain of a sports team has nothing to do with coolness over here.

So basically that video/song has very little on the way to be popular over here.
